You missed the party!
It was a beautiful Sunday morning as 36 walkers and racers lined up for the Fresh Tracks 5K Snowshoe Walk/Race on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at Camp Richardson Resort. This was a no snow year, so the event was changed to a trail walk/run. The event was hosted by the Tahoe Mountain Milers Running Club.
The lack of snow didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the participants for an out and back course on trails through the woods at Camp Richardson. Jason Kerver, 49, of Carson City, won the event in 21:35. Sterling Saltz, 22, from Henderson was second in 22:31 and in third place was Cruz Kerver, 24, from Reno in 22:36.
In the women’s race, Jessica Haltom, from Carson City, was fifth overall and first woman in 29:35. Second place was Tida Saltz, 53, from Henderson in 30:20. In third place was Jamie Branco-Ricard visiting from Beverly, MA in 33:10. Participants ranged in age from 10 years old to 73 years old and one baby in a backpack. Age group awards were given in the form of mini-snowshoes.

Special thanks to Kris Knox and his team at Camp Richardson Resort for making this happen: Doug Sheehan and Travis Lauinger. It was a beautiful venue and they provided great food for the picnic in the snow (er dirt).
Thanks to our volunteers: Jan Bleiweiss (who printed the posters), grillmaster Tony Russo, Mark & Renee Gorevin, Peggy Lallement, Steve & Louise Feller, Steve & Debbie Hammond, Terry Tubb, LJ Panther and Ute Luyties.
The beneficiary of the event is Metavivor (metastatic breast cancer) in honor of Renee Gorevin and Kelly Shanahan and other local Tahoe women. All funds go for cancer research.
Join us next year for a party in the snow!
