TMM hosts group runs and races highlighting our area trails and unique location adjacent to the Lake Tahoe Basin. As the temperature rises in Eagle and Carson Valleys, we tend to run more miles at higher elevation. Join Us!
GROUP RUNS in the time of COVID-19: For now we all continue to isolate and keep our social distance, but we can still have some fun, right? Check our Homepage Feed, Strava, Instagram or Facebook to play fun run games with your run community online.
We also encourage all members to volunteer for our races and affiliated races.
GROUP RUNS
Speedy Tuesdays or Hilly Tuesdays
6:00am – 7:30am
Every Tuesday, we meet up for either speed work or hills. Carson Riverview Park is the spot for speed work, and Ash Canyon is where we go for hills.
Check the TMM Facebook Events for updates.
Thursday Brew Run
5:30pm
On Thursdays, we meet different spots around Carson City and head out for a run. Pick your own distance, or complete the loop for up to approximately 5 miles (road/trail).
After the run, stay for some grub, beverages, and conversation.
Runners, walkers, and hikers welcome.
We post location and route updates on Facebook.
Pi Day Fun Run
Date: 3.14 (That’s March 14th, get it?). Distance: 3.14 miles. Goal: finish in 31 minutes and 41 seconds. 2013 was our inaugural Pi Run and it landed on a Thursday so 3:14 in the afternoon was out of the question. We started at 6:14 instead! This run is ALL ABOUT FUN. The Winner gets a Pie and all runners eat pizza pie!
Looking For More?
We have a volunteer board that generously gives their time to organize, promote and perpetuate the running life of TMM. Join our board or present your idea to us.
RACES
A snowshoe race at Camp Richardson, in South Lake Tahoe. Machine groomed track through forested terrain and mountain meadows. Mostly flat but some short, moderate climbs. This race benefits Metavivor (Metastatic Breast Cancer).
Escape from Prison Hill
Lovingly dubbed “The Escape” this race is “The Challenge Of An Ultra Without The Distance.” An all-dirt-half-marathon cuts a sinuous trail around Carson City’s desert ridge called Prison Hill. Chugging up steep ravines, gliding over ridges and floating down near-vertical sandy slopes, runners see the mile markers (etched in stone) tick by and wonder, “Will I ever escape?” This is a local favorite and a best-kept secret, though, maybe not for long! In 2014, we added a 10K to the mix!
Tahoe Rim Trail Endurance Runs
Our nationally recognized 55 kilometer, 50 mile and 100 mile Ultra event brings runners from all over the world. This event sells out within minutes of opening registration and it’s no surprise. The Tahoe Rim Trail is a beautiful alpine and sub-alpine trail, with sweeping views of Lake Tahoe and the Great Basin. The course is challenging: dropping to 6800′ at the lowest point and climbing to 9214′ at the highest, with a whole lot of up and downs in between. It’s not called “A glimpse of heaven…a taste of hell” for nothing!
Kokanee 5K / 10K / 1/2M Trail
Held during the “Kokanee Festival” in beautiful South Lake Tahoe the Kokanee has become another tradition. The 2014 and 2015 Kokanee Half Marathon runs on a new course over beautiful Tahoe Mountain. Join us each October for this beautiful fall classic, one of the oldest trail runs in the region.
Nevada Day Classic 2M / 8K
Nevada’s Capital City throws a big party for Nevada Day. The Nevada Day Classic 2-mile run/walk and 8-kilometer run kick the whole thing off! Before the Nevada Day Parade begins, runners take to the backstreets of Carson City and sprint to the finish on the parade route as onlookers gather. Nevada was officially granted statehood on October 31st, 1864, and because of this, costumes are highly recommended.
